Day 15: Return to Christchurch / Fly Home

October 28: 

After an early morning soak in the hot tub, we packed everything up and started our drive to Christchurch.

Our first stop was at the Weka Pass Railway (Glenmark Station)

We then stopped at Glenmark Reserve outside of Waipara.

We then drove through the Waipara winery region, which is where we visited at the start of our trip. 

We stopped at Waikuku Beach

and went for a last beach walk

then had lunch at a local shop for fish and chips for lunch.

We then returned the rental car and caught our flight from Christchurch to Auckland.

We had clear skies over the South Island as we departed.

After a 2.5 hour layover, we boarded our 12-hour flight to San Francisco.

This is a terrible picture but the sunrise from the plane was reddish purple.

We were tired but happy to board or final flight home!
