Jeeping near Seven Springs

We decided to take advantage of the weather before it gets really hot and went Jeeping near Seven Springs (Northeast of Phoenix).

We decided to spend the afternoon playing and posing on the boulders.

The pictures are supposed to look like we are lifting the Jeep, but I think the angles were wrong!

Hiking to Romero Pools (near Tucson)

We drove down to the Tucson area to hike in the Santa Cataline Mountains and visit Romero Pools.

There was still a bit of water in the pools, since it isn't quite summer yet.

During part of the hike, I got a bit overheated and needed to stop and find some shade to sit, and then head back. Steve hiked a bit further before he turned around, since I felt ok enough to start heading back on my own (and I new he would catch up with me since I was going slow on my return).

Jeeping at Horseshoe Lake and Dam

The weather was beautiful today, so we decided to head to Horseshoe lake and dam, which is northeast of Cave Creek, AZ.

There was quite a bit of water coming out of the dam.
On the way back, we drove through seven springs and played in the river.

There were a few flooded areas that we needed to cross.

We finally reached drier ground!
We saw some vines of wild cucumber (not edible) growing

Stuck in the snow

We drove up to Crown King to play in the snow.

Unfortunately, we got a little stuck when we turned around to leave.

It took about 30 minutes, but we finally got back on the road again.

Maui Hawaii (January 19-26, 2013)

I decided to join Steve on a family vacation (him, his mom, and his daughters) to Maui Hawaii. We rented a car and a condo in Maui and took various day trips from the condo.

We started our first full day on the island (January 20) with a helicopter tour of Maui.

On this tour, we flew over rainforests with waterfalls

We also flew over coastlines.

We later took a scenic drive along the coast.

And stopped to  check out the blowhole.

From there, we drove to a "jungle" area

And finished the day by riding the waves at sunset.

Maui - Beaches and Waterfalls (Days 2-3)

Over the next two days, we explored more of the island, spending time at various beaches and driving the road to Hana.

We also stopped to explore different waterfalls.
